(1 votes, average: 5 out of 5)Stepping out onto today’s stage of consumer technology can be a bit freaky if you’re not used to it. A deluge of new electronic devices is flooding over the landscape, and it is a wonder we know what to buy. The other day I came out of a bookstore and it struck me how some cars today almost resemble cell phones—flat and thin; narrow. Sounds ludicrous? Perhaps. I suppose I am just keeping myself entertained. But really now, isn’t it all a bit of a blurrrr at times?
I cannot walk past a cell phone store and find the model I bought nine months ago. Now there are newer models that get smaller and supposedly have more features. We see people in the shopping malls walk around with all kinds of devices sticking out of their ears and wrapped around their heads. The Blackberry earpieces out right now look like headgear used on Star Trek Second Generation and Babylon 5, don’t you think? Some may not be too attractive, especially in a conference board meeting. Most earpieces almost look like something out of a lava lamp. I guess they’re working on design. We’ve definitely left the “glamour era”. But that is probably a subjective call, isn’t it?
In any case, unless I want to be part of the living lemming test market in America, I try to pass on the “latest” and buy something that’s had some of the “bugs” worked out. Common sense will guide. That is what makes “classics” appealing. They stand the test of time. They really can be worth having.
Rechargeable batteries have now come into this arena of tried and true.
As recently as two years ago articles were written saying that the rechargeable batteries are not as reliable alternative to the standard conventional AA Alkaline batteries you buy in the supermarket. Well, that’s just not true anymore. In fact, these latest rechargeable batteries are far superior to their predecessors. The rechargeable battery systems we have here at Battery Boulevard will prepare you to start thinking about conservation in a new way that works because it helps not only the environment, but you as a consumer too. That is why Battery Boulevard was born.
Battery Boulevard is the brainchild of April Lankford, a former television artist technician who has used batteries throughout her whole life. Always having to find out how something works is not the job for everyone. But that was a lot of her job as a technician. It was too expensive to use half-lit technology. You end up buying it twice, not to mention the lost clients and jobs because of trying to cut corners in a purchase.
We want you to think for yourselves, but we can help you make good decisions when it comes to your portable power. In order to come to sound conclusions, we all need good information. That is why we turn to people who not only have experience, but those who also keep up with the technology and are able to communicate their experience in a way that is useful to most people. You will find all of this here.
There really is not much comprehensive information published on rechargeable batteries. A few articles. Lots of ads. Lots of Ideas started, but then stopped in the middle. Yes, we do sell batteries and chargers here, and a few other related accessories. However, we are not trained sales people. We are trained professional consumers of batteries, and understand the value of buying what we need. We want you to buy what you really need. It saves money. We want you to see why you are buying the best you can find anywhere. We want you to become an informed buyer.
Here at Battery Boulevard, we look forward to giving you something to make your experience on the web worthwhile. We have many features that allow you to interact with us. (List the features SMS has for the visitor).
As people we consume in order to function in our lives and ultimately to stay alive. We are told we are hurting the earth and the future of our children. It almost appears a crime to breathe. This idea really needs to be put in perspective for the sake of us as human beings.
For years, batteries were these “little things” you had to buy to make the transistor radio or the carousel music box work, to turn on flashlights and electric toys. Looking for sales to find the cheapest priced batteries, stretching the mighty dollar, we just wanted the results of these “little things” that we used up and threw in the garbage. It was not a conspiracy. We did not know they had lead and cadmium and God knows what else that will pollute the environment for the next fifty thousand years. We need not regret the past. We are getting better.
In the early 1980’s I remember walking around the east shore of San Francisco Bay and I came upon a small beach covered with black pieces of cracked-up plastic. They were about 5 inches in diameter and crunched when I walked on them. I asked around about them and was told that in the 1950’s people used to dump their unwanted car batteries off on that little beach. Of course back then we had more superstition and less factual information, so it is a bit easier to forgive. But all those chemicals leaked into The Bay. Today, three percent of car batteries still end up in landfills, quite a significant number. So we continue to improve. Having a conscience is definitely helpful as a consumer, and learning from others’ past mistakes is their gift to us.
There are many offers out here in the cyber public market. If you go on eBay you will find literally thousands of batteries—rechargeable and otherwise. How do you know what to buy? I don’t blame anyone for continuing to walk into his or her local supermarket and continue to put down $1 dollar per throwaway battery. At least the brand name is familiar. Having to pay the high price of portable power can prevent someone from really enjoying the electronic device they have. Well, that can now stop.
If you hang around on this website, you may begin to start thinking about your next purchase of batteries to be rechargeable. You have many places to buy from. Our information is useful and free. Our experience is invaluable, and we’re glad you are here.

At Battery Boulevard our intention is to awaken the general public about basic battery technology that will help them benefit by switching from primary batteries, used once and discarded, to the great benefits of rechargeable power. By using recently available rechargeable power, we do definitely help the environment, but we also directly and immediately benefit by saving money as well.
