You buy a 24 pack of AA alkaline batteries at the major discount superstore. They cost you about $.32 cents each plus tax. In order for you to receive the same amount of power and use out of these batteries that you would from 24 NiMH AA batteries, each of those alkalines would cost you about $320.00 dollars plus tax.
The NiMH AA batteries, if they are high quality and not junk, will charge up to 1000 times. The charger will cost you about $35.00 dollars plus or minus, depending on the model you choose. Please do not buy a charger that does not recondition your batteries. A good charger will cost you less than a dinner for two at your favorite restaurant, depending on where you dine.
Chances are you do not really need 24 AA batteries all at once. With a couple sets of four, giving you 8 to 12 NiMH rechargeable AA batteries, you will be set for charges beyond your wildest dreams.
